Allen Leroy Skinner Jr.

Allen Leroy Skinner, Jr., 79, of Florence, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at the McLeod Hospice House.

Mr. Skinner was born in Columbia, South Carolina, and was the son of the late Allen Leroy "Roy" Skinner and Sarah Matthews Skinner. He enjoyed a successful career as a banker before retiring. An avid golfer throughout his life, Allen developed a love for the game at a young age and spent countless hours on the golf course with family and friends. He was also a devoted supporter of the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his favorite team.

Allen will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his friendly personality, and the many relationships he cultivated throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time with those he loved and took great pride in his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his daughters, Jeannie McDaniel (Dean) and Katie Meyers (Frank Murray), both of Columbia; his son, Allen Leroy Skinner III of Florence; his grandchildren, Holland McDaniel, Avery McDaniel, Wright McDaniel, and Ellie Skinner; his brothers, Raymond Skinner (Janet), David Skinner (Kathleen), and Franklin Skinner (Gail); and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Vera Segura, with whom he shared many years of love, friendship, and cherished memories.

The family will receive friends from 2:00pm to 3:00pm on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Calcutt-Dowling Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to McLeod Hospice House or a charity of one's choice.
