Allen Anderson Hanna, 65, of Effingham, passed away on June 1, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Hanna was born in Florence, SC, a son of the late Willard Devoe and Lucille Lupo Hanna. He received his B.S. from the University of South Carolina in 1971 and was a veteran of the US Air Force Reserves. He was a member of St. Paul UMC. Allen loved to work in his yard and the grounds of St. Paul UMC doing landscaping. He had a passion for the USC Gamecocks, taking care of animals, and a Circle Fountain cheeseburger. He never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back. Surviving are his three siblings, Bill (Patty) Hanna of Murrells Inlet, Brenda (Larry) Hanna-Rogers of Florence, and Madeleine H. Page of Eatonton, GA; and two nephews, Will (Mary Gray) Hanna of Murrells Inlet and Patrick Hanna of Lakeland, FL. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at St. Paul United Methodist Church directed by Cain Funeral Home. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the fellowship hall and from 6-8 PM on Friday at the residence of Larry and Brenda Rogers.
