Obituary

Albert Carl Cantelmo, Jr., 73, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2014 at his residence. Mr. Cantelmo was born in Newark, NJ, a son of the late Molly Josephine Doyle Cantelmo and Albert Carl Cantelmo, Sr. He graduated from Clemson University receiving his B.S. in mechanical engineering. He was a member of Who's Who in SC, Porsche Club of America, St. Joseph's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus (Columbia Chapter). Mr. Cantelmo retired from Micro Precision in Florence and taught Tool and Die at Florence Darlington Technical College. He also, for the last 35 years, repaired and restored Porsches. He was a loving and devoted partner, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He is preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his sister, Caryl Polk and his canine companions, Jake and Gabe. Surviving are, his lifelong love, Jane White; two children, Albert Carl (Anita Nichols) Cantelmo, III and Beth (Giuseppe) Chillico both of Myrtle Beach; the mother of his children, Thelma Morris Cantelmo of Myrtle Beach; three grandchildren, Sterling Chillico of Charleston, Alessandra and Joseph Chillico both of Myrtle Beach; a great-grandson, Grant Danko; a sister, Nancy (Steve) Hendley of Simpsonville; a brother, Gary (Dawn) Cantelmo of Kennesaw, GA; and a number of nieces and nephews. A private memorial mass will be held at a later date at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Cain Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
